Puribag Water Purifier Bag: Treat and Store 120 Litres of Safe Drinking Water
Puribag is a flat-pack water treatment and storage bag that turns contaminated fresh water into safe drinking water in 30 minutes, using the same P&G Purifier of Water sachets used in cholera and flood response. Each bag weighs under 200 grams, comes with 12 sachets to treat 120 litres, and can be stockpiled for up to three years. SLS is an authorised Puribag distributor, supplying the full Puribag, Puribag Pro and Puribag Adventure range from Juba, Kampala and Nairobi.

TRUSTED BY GLOBAL ORGANIZATIONS

How Puribag works
Puribag combines four treatment stages in one bag. Fill it with 10 litres from almost any fresh water source, add one P&G Purifier of Water sachet, and the bag does the rest in about 30 minutes.
1. Flocculation: dirt and pathogens clump and settle. The sachet's flocculant binds suspended dirt, particles and many pathogens into heavy flocs that sink to the bottom of the bag.
2. Sorption: contaminants bind and drop out. The sachet's ingredients bind dissolved contaminants so they settle out with the flocs.
3. Chlorine disinfection: remaining bacteria and viruses are killed. The sachet's chlorine disinfects the clarified water.
4. Filtration and safe storage. The settled waste is drained out of the bag, and treated water is dispensed through the carbon filter disc. The water stays sealed inside Puribag until it is used, which minimises the risk of recontamination.
The result meets World Health Organization standards for safe drinking water, from both high- and low-turbidity sources.
Six reasons programmes choose Puribag

Treats muddy and clear water
Puribag handles a wide range of conditions, from highly contaminated, turbid water to relatively clean sources, so one item covers most of the water a household will collect.

Sized for a household
The 120 litres from one Puribag can supply a family of four for up to two weeks, or one person for a month.

Treats and stores in one bag
Waste is drained off after treatment and the purified water stays sealed in the bag until it is needed, reducing the recontamination risk of open containers.
Meets WHO drinking water standards
The integrated 30-minute process of filtration, flocculation, sorption and chemical disinfection produces water that meets WHO standards for safe drinking water.

Light, flat-packed, ready to stockpile
Under 200 grams and small enough to fit in the palm of a hand, Puribag can be stockpiled for up to three years, ready for rapid deployment.

Scales up to 5,000 litres
Add the Puribag Pro Membrane Filter Kit and the same bag treats up to 5,000 litres, depending on water turbidity.
Puribag or loose P&G sachets?
Puribag runs on the same P&G Purifier of Water sachets that SLS supplies loose. The two suit different situations.
Choose loose sachets for large-scale distribution where households already have two clean containers and a cloth for the four-step bucket method.
Choose Puribag where households lack clean containers, where treated water must be stored safely, or where one lightweight item has to cover treatment, filtration, storage and transport.
SLS can supply both in one order. Read more about P&G Purifier of Water.
Where Puribag fits: from emergency response to commercial supply
1. Cholera outbreak response. Household treatment and safe storage where water sources are contaminated, in one item that needs no extra buckets or cloth.
2. Flood and displacement response. Flat-pack and under 200 grams, Puribag fits family kits for people who have lost containers and access to safe water.
3. Prepositioning and contingency stock. A three-year stockpile life suits contingency warehouses ahead of rainy and outbreak seasons.
4. Field staff and mobile teams. The Pro System and Pro Kit give staff moving between sites up to 5,000 litres from one bag.
Commercial, preparedness and outdoor supply. SLS also supplies the Puribag range to commercial buyers in East Africa: resellers, companies equipping staff for travel and remote work, and households building emergency preparedness kits. The Puribag Adventure range (hydration backpack, 2 litre bladder and Micro filter) is built for hiking, trail running, biking, camping and travel, where clean water has to come from the source.
The Puribag range
SLS supplies all nine Puribag products. The Puribag 120L System is the starting point; Expansion Packs and the Pro upgrade extend its use. The Adventure range serves mobile teams, commercial resellers and outdoor buyers.

Frequently asked questions about Puribag
Q. What is Puribag?
A. Puribag is a flat-pack bag that treats and stores 10 litres of water at a time. With one P&G Purifier of Water sachet it combines flocculation, sorption, chlorine disinfection and carbon filtration to make safe drinking water in about 30 minutes.
Q. How much water does one Puribag treat?
A. The 120L System comes with 12 sachets and treats up to 120 litres. An Expansion Pack takes it to 240 litres. With the Pro Membrane Filter Kit, the system's useful life rises to up to 5,000 litres, depending on water turbidity.
